Yahoo News Teenage girl, 14, who died after being rescued from water near Clacton Pier is named
A 14-year-old girl who died after she was rescued from water near Clacton Pier in Essex on Thursday has been named.
Malika Shamas, from Luton, Bedfordshire passed away after she got into difficulty in the North Sea, along with two relatives.
One of them, an 18-year-old man, is in a critical condition at Colchester Hopsital.
The other relative, a 15-year-old girl, is said to be on course to make a full recovery.
Emergency services, including police and the Coastguard, were called to the scene at 1.40pm on Thursday afternoon.
After being recovered from the water on to Marine Parade, the casualties received emergency treatment.

Ms Shamas was given CPR but sadly died later on in hospital.
Two other people were assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
Essex Police Detective Superintendent Paul Wells said on Thursday: "At this early stage, we believe that three teenagers got into difficulty at sea and were recovered from the water, close to Clacton Pier.
"A teenage boy and girl were taken to hospital in a critical condition. Of these, a 14-year-old girl has died in hospital, an 18-year old man is stable but remains in a critical condition, and a 15-year-old girl is expected to make a full recovery.
"The three casualties are related."
"We are continuing to support the family at this unimaginably difficult time and are working closely with our partners."
He continued: "We would like to thank members of the public and our emergency service colleagues who responded really quickly and worked incredibly hard to help the teenagers.
Messages of sympathy have come in from the local community.
One person wrote: "Condolences to the family and I hope the other two teenagers make a speedy recovery. It is scary to think a day at the beach and something awful like this happens. I'm sorry to hear it."
