Teenager, 17, charged with attempted murder after man stabbed and shot

A third teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed and shot in Dagenham, East London. The 17-year-old was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in Birmingham on Friday, May 17, and will appear at Barkingside Youth Court on Monday (May 20) charged with attempted murder.

The suspect will also face other charges including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, being in possession of a pointed/bladed article in a public place and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Two other teenagers were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was repeatedly stabbed and shot.

The 17-year-olds were arrested in Ashford, Kent, on Friday, May 10, before being transported to London. They were later charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Both suspects appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on Monday, May 13, and were remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, June 10.

Police were called to Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham at about 5.20pm on Thursday, May 2, to reports of a stabbing. Police then received a second call reporting gunfire.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 19-year-old man, with what appeared to be stab injuries. He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that he had been stabbed and also shot.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition. His next of kin has been informed.

Five men and a woman, aged between 18 and 25 years old, had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
