A 15-year-old from West Sussex has been arrested for carrying a knife in Eastleigh.

On Monday, June 24, officers on patrol in the town came across a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old boy from West Sussex in Station Road.

The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and both teens were returned home to West Sussex by police.

Taking to Facebook to alert residents that a weapon had been taken off the street, a spokesperson for the force said: “A 13-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy, both from West Sussex, were located during the morning and returned home.

“However, this was not before one of them – the 15-year-old - was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.”

He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

On the same day, a 10-centimetre bladed butterfly knife was also seized by Hampshire police officers.

The spokesperson said: “Another potentially dangerous weapon off the streets.”
