Boy, 15, dies after collapsing in front of family at Liverpool restaurant
A teenager died after collapsing in front of family and friends at a Liverpool restaurant on Saturday.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene in the Liverpool ONE complex after staff and onlookers called 999.
Witnesses attempted to resuscitate the 15-year-old before ambulance crews arrived. He was then rushed to hospital but died shortly after.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called to Browns Restaurant on Paradise Street at about 5.50pm following reports that a teenager who was with family and friends had collapsed.
"A number of members of the public and staff at the restaurant had provided medical assistance prior to the emergency services attending.
"The teenager was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where sadly he died a short time later.
"The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Next of kin have been spoken to and specialist officers are supporting the family at this tragic time."
The spokesman added that no name had yet been released because formal identification is still to take place.
Fellow diners, locals and friends paid tribute to the teen on social media.
On Facebook, Linda Hill said: "His poor parents, my heart went out to them. My two grandchildren lit a candle in church for him this morning. I have to say I've been thinking of them all last night. May he rest in peace prayers thoughts to his family friends."
