Teens arrested outside Erdington school to appear in court after police stop

Two teenagers have been charged with vehicle offences after being arrested outside a Birmingham school. The male teenagers, age 18 and 19, were arrested by city police officers after they were spotted and then chased through gardens.

Both teenagers were then arrested outside a school on Slade Road in Erdington. They have since been charged with vehicle offences, the force confirmed.

They will both appear before Birmingham magistrates tomorrow, May 3. Birmingham Police took to X, formerly Twitter, on May 2 to release details of the charges.

A Birmingham Police spokesperson said: "Two teenagers have been charged with vehicle offences after being arrested outside a school on Slade Road, Erdington yesterday. Two men were seen on a moped which they abandoned when spotted by police, and made off through gardens.

"Both were detained and found in possession of Class A drugs and tools for going equipped. The moped was discovered to be stolen. Two men, aged 19 and 18, have been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle.

"The 18-year-old was further charged with riding a motor vehicle without a licence or insurance. They will both appear before Birmingham magistrates tomorrow (3 May)."
