My little Lambo: Farmer builds mini sports car for his grandson using £500 of scrap metal

Many of us fantasize about owning a sports car, but this farmer turned his dream into reality - by making a mini Lamborghini from scrap metal.

The Chinese farmer, known only as Guo, spent 5,000 Yuan (£500) on scrap metal to build the mini-motor as a toy for his grandson.

The car, powered by five batteries, can reach speeds of 60mph, and travels up to 37 miles when fully charged.

Guo, 50, worked hard for six months to build the iconic replica, using photos he found online and spare parts from electric bicycles.

It measures two metres long and one metre wide, and comes complete with a rear-view mirror, a horn, a reverse gear and stereo system.

The farmer even bought Lamborghini logos to stick on to the car’s hood and steering wheel to complete the effect.

'It’s just a toy for my grandson. But I can drive him to school in it. It’s much better than an electric bike,' he said.

But under China’s strict traffic laws, the car is not actually allowed to be used on public roads.

It can only be used as a plaything, and driven at low speeds in residential areas and parks.
