Temporary traffic lights in place after 'huge' water leak

TEMPORARY traffic lights are expected to be in place for the next week after a “huge” water leak.

A water leak on the B3069 High Street through Langton Matravers was found on Thursday evening, June 13.

Although the road was initially closed at around 11pm, according to Morebus, Wessex Water has since been down and installed the lights to do work.

A spokesman for Wessex Water said that although the lights are due to be in place for a week, he is hoping workmen will be able to finish sooner.

He said: “We’re repairing a leak on our network, with two-way traffic lights near the junction of Steppes Hill to allow us to work quickly and safely.

“We’re sorry for any traffic delays caused by this emergency repair.”

More recently, Wessex Water has been digging up the road as part of a major £150k investment to “boost” the water quality.

The major investment, which got under way in early January, saw just under 300 metres of degrading pipe that was prone to bursts replaced.
