Tesco Bank says customers will see £555 wiped from account 'before end of summer'

10 per cent of holidaymakers are set to travel for a summer of sport, Tesco Bank has found, with fans set to spend average of £490. New research from Tesco Bank reveals that 10% of holidaymakers have planned a trip to tie in with a summer of sport.

One in four people in their 20s, 30s and early 40s have specifically booked a holiday to coincide with the sporting action this summer. While the Euros kick off in a few days’ time, fans will also be travelling to enjoy the Olympics and Paralympics taking place in Paris, and the Tour de France.

Sports enthusiasts are planning to spend an average of £490 on expenses like food, taxis, transport, and other items, with the average trip booked for five days. And its men who are expecting to splash the most cash with a spend of £555 over the course of their trip.

Iain Donachie, Head of Money Services at Tesco Bank said alongside the findings today: “The men’s Euros hit our screens in a matter of days and kick off a summer of sport across Europe. As excitement builds it’s important that travellers are kitted up with spending money in their pocket.

“If you’re travelling in the coming days or weeks, try and get your travel money sorted before getting to the airport or station. Customers with a Tesco Clubcard can access Clubcard Prices on travel money when buying their currency in a Tesco store or online."

Iain went on, explaining: "And there’s no cash advance fee for Tesco Bank Credit Card customers when using their Credit Card to buy currency in Tesco Travel Money Bureaux or online with Tesco Bank.” The Euros kicks off tonight with Scotland vs Germany in Munich.
