Lindt has launched a new flavour of its legendary Lindor chocolates – but something is stopping shoppers from indulging.

The Swiss chocolatier, famed for its velvety textures and out-there flavours, released the new sweet treat in Tesco after a swathe of new releases in the chocolate world including Cadbury's Iced Latte Twirl and the return of Cadbury Top Deck, which was discontinued more than 20 years ago.

Now the Pistachio Lindt Lindor Chocolates has made it to shelves for the very first time. Wrapped in a sparkly emerald green packaging, the 'melting' and 'irresistible' pistachio filling is encased in a 'crunchy shell of milk chocolate'.

However, before you start stocking up, you should know the new chocolates don't come cheap. A 200g box costs a staggering £6.30.

It comes after Lindt warned it had no choice but to raise its prices following increased costs of packing, transport, and staff salaries.

Hundreds of sweet tooth fanatics rushed to the comments section to share the news with their friends and family - with one user vowing to 'fill up the trolly' with the chocolates. "I'm gonna look out for these. I bet they are lovely," raved one user.

Another agreed, commenting: "I did a little dance when I spotted them this morning in my Tesco. My absolute favourite flavour." A third added: "Oh, I would be delighted with a box of these!" While a fourth simply wrote: "These are lush."

Other users pointed out that while the pistachio chocolates are new to Tesco stores nationwide, they have previously been stocked in other retailers including B&M. "Come to Somerset, where the outlet shop is!" one person suggested. "[There are] so many flavours and they have a pick n mix. You might need a credit card though!"

Pistachio chocolate has had a recent boom in popularity thanks to super-chunky bars from Fix Dessert Chocolatier. Created in Dubai, the colourfully designed chocolates are filled with knafeh (a shredded pastry) and pistachio - and have gone viral on TikTok, with people from around the world trying to recreate the sweet treat.
