Tesco employees have shared their most shocking customer complaints, leaving people in stitches. These range from shoppers "storming out" to an irate woman returning a chicken she had "burnt in the oven".

Working in a customer-facing role can be both rewarding and challenging, as you meet new people every day.

With millions of Brits visiting their local Tesco each week, staff encounter a variety of personalities some more difficult than others.

Numerous employees of the supermarket giant took to Reddit to share their unique experiences. Several revealed they've had confrontations with customers attempting to buy alcohol.

One employee recounted: "Woman came in kicking off because I didn't let her 14-year-old buy the bottle of wine that she sent him to the shop to buy. Even the manager couldn't keep a straight face when talking to her about it."

Another shared: "Was verbally abused for asking for ID, by a woman (who had her kids present) because she didn't have her ID on her, despite complaining that she keeps getting ID asked for. She knew she should've had it on her if she was going to try and buy alcohol", reports the Mirror.

One Tesco cafe worker shared their experience: "I was on break heading outside had my jacket on over my uniform as I work in the cafe and often get mistaken for shop floor staff. A lady came up to me and started asking me where stuff was. I politely explained I work in the cafe and I have no idea about the shop floor and she proceeded to shout at me."

"I carried on explaining I have no idea where things are but offered to find a staff member to help and she went on a rant about how I'm employed by Tesco I should know the store, called me stupid and pushed past me...... not the first person to say that to me and probably won't be the last."

Another employee recounted a customer's disbelief regarding stock availability: "Guy asked for coconut water, told him we didn't have any available, can't remember why, and he goes 'is that true or do you just not want to get it for me? ' The bloody cheek."

Others shared their own bizarre encounters. One said: "I wouldn't call it ridiculous but I'm surprised how many people send back eggs from their home deliveries just because the shell is white."

Meanwhile, another added: "We once had a bloke screaming in the shop and threatening us because he was convinced we'd watered down his mouthwash," and one more recalled an incident where a woman tried to return a chicken she had "burnt in the oven".
