Texas Officials Post Video of 5 Migrants Apprehended at Border

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) released video on Thursday, May 2, showing the apprehension of five people who the DPS said had tried to “breach the border wall using a makeshift ladder” in the Rio Grande Valley that morning.

The footage was posted on X by Lt. Chris Olivarez, a DPS spokesperson in the South Texas Region, who said the five people were “illegal immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador.” The men seen in this video can be heard saying where they are from.

The group was located near Mission by a United States Border Patrol dog before being detained by border agents and state troopers, Olivarez said.

Later on Thursday, CBS News reported that illegal border crossings had dropped significantly from the year before. Credit: Texas DPS via Storyful
