What did you miss?

The Apprentice's Karren Brady slated this year's candidates in the first boardroom as she branded the girls' cooking disaster as the "worst food" she's ever seen on the show.

Series 18 candidates were sent packing their bags to the Scottish Highlands where they had to put on a luxe corporate away day. Both teams inevitably ran into disasters along the way. With hawk-eyes on the girls' team, Brady watched in surprise as they mixed up the breadcrumbs with the sweet crumble.

Tensions reached fever pitch in the boardroom when Brady and Tim Campbell delivered the honest truths to Lord Alan Sugar about how the teams had got on with the task.

What, how and why?

She informed the boardroom: "Breadcrumbs mixed up with sweet crumble which was put onto the fishcake. Dessert was undercooked. In this process we've seen a lot of bad food, this was probably the worst food I've ever seen."

During the corporate away day, there were complaints about the main course after the girls dished up the main course. One man asked his fellow diners: "Do you think that's breadcrumbs? I don't think that's breadcrumbs."

Then the man raised his complaints with The Apprentice candidates directly. He said: "I'm not convinced it's breadcrumbs. It's quite sweet. I'm underwhelmed." They all agreed it was not breadcrumbs.

In the kitchen, Brady then told the girls their mistake: "You've been using crumble instead of breadcrumbs." The whole group turned on each other.

Sam Saadet had to apologise to the guests for the food after they were served fishcakes covered in sweet crumble instead of breadcrumbs. "This food service is an absolute disaster!" She said in a piece to camera: "They've used the crumble on the fishcake." The candidate then pretended to hit herself on the forehead. "I don't know where to go. All I can do is apologise. It's just chaos, absolute chaos."

Th pre and post natal fitness coach then apologised to the group: "No excuses. Sorry if this was not to your liking."

The boys team also had a cooking disaster on the reality show. Oliver “Ollie” Medforth accidentally forgot to put the flour in the brownies. "What is the flour for?" He declared before realising his huge mistake in the kitchen.

Later, Medforth was sent home in the task when he faced an intense grilling in the boardroom alongside PM Virdi and fellow candidate Steve. Ahead of the showdown in the boardroom, Karren Brady had raised the point that everyone was asking Medforth what he had done.

Lord Alan Sugar told the boys that "it's not a bloody holiday". He added: "You're not here to enjoy yourself."

However, he acknowledged that Medforth was a "nice guy" when he fired him. The entrepreneur told him: "It's a tough one. Ollie, I'm sorry to say mate but you're fired."

Once Medforth was out the doors, Lord Sugar elaborated: "Very tough that is because he's a nice bloke. You're staying here because you had the balls to take on the task which I like. Ok, off you go."
