What did you miss?

Paul Burrell has said the Princess Diana car crash scenes in The Crown are "too much" for him to watch and would upset Princes William and Harry.

The sixth series of the Netflix drama covers the Princess's death following a car accident in Paris in 1997.

But former royal servant Burrell - who was also Diana's butler - branded the scenes "too graphic" as he discussed the show on ITV's Lorraine.

What, how, and why?

He spoke out after a clip of The Crown was aired, showing scenes leading up the car accident.

Host Lorraine Kelly suggested it was "too recent" and noted that Burrell turned away while the scene was played.

"I can't watch it, it's too graphic, it's too much," Burrell said, adding that it would "upset" the Princes.

Kelly noted how similar actor Elizabeth Debicki looked to Diana, which Burrell agreed with.

"I am finding this very difficult, this series," he added.

"And I don't know whether I can watch it. I found it easier to watch the beginning, the first series. Only because that's far enough away isn't it, in history, for us not to be emotionally involved, invested in it.

"But this series, I am emotionally invested in it and I am going to be very critical of it because this is a dramatisation, it's Hollywood budget, it's not real life."

He went on: "And I personally think the Princess was misrepresented and misinterpreted all her life and here we go again, with The Crown.

"It's not the real Diana. The real Diana I knew was a fighter and she wasn't shy and retiring. She fought for what she believed in and she fought for her boys."

There has been a lot of discussion about Diana appearing as a ghostly presence in The Crown.

Burrell said: "It might be strange to watch it but she is the ghost that will forever haunt the house of Windsor. And she will always be relevant because her son will one day will be King."

He also said he didn't believe the Royals would watch the programme.

"I don't think any televisions will be switched on in Royal residences," he said.

What else did Paul Burrell say?

Burrell said he was also unimpressed with the way the late Queen is portrayed in the series.

He said the monarch (played by Imelda Staunton) had been written as "hard" and "cold" and that it wasn't the case.

"I am not happy because I knew the Queen very well," he said.

"I stood beside her for 11 years. I knew her intimately. I know she would not want to be portrayed like that. She was a kind, warm, generous, funny lady who you would want to be your gran."

"I think it's unfair, again, she has been misrepresented, misinterpreted," he went on.

"It's not Imelda Staunton's fault, she's just reading the lines."
