Flanagan has carved a place for himself as one of the great horror auteurs of the 21st Century with shows like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, and so his newest addition to the "Mike Flanagan Universe" is one fans are excited to see.

What's that? No, it's not a ghost - it's the reviews for The Fall of The House of Usher. As Flanagan's latest hits Netflix, critics hustle to share their thoughts online and according to the online verdict, this scary streaming series is pretty good.
In our own four-out-of-five review, we commend the series' ability to do Poe's work justice, explaining that "Flanagan has proven time and again that he is one of the most prolific voices in modern horror."
Elsewhere, The Hollywood Reporter commented on how enjoyable it was watching Flanagan work once again with his batch of series regulars, saying "the characters are all grotesques in their own way... and the actors succeed in making it gratifying to root for them to get flayed, eviscerated, smushed and squished in different ways."

The Fall of the House of Usher plot
As mentioned, The Fall of the House of User is based on the 1839 short novel by Poe and the series will follow corrupt CEO Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) who is forced to face his dark past when his children begin to be die under mysterious, creepy circumstances.

In an interview with Netflix's TUDUM, actor Carla Gugino said of the upcoming series: “It’s batshit crazy in the best possible way. It has quite a lot of very dark humor, but also really touches the soul.”
Gugino portrays Verna in the production, who is described as being heavily inspired by a particularly famous Poe character.
The actor said of her character: “There is a fantastical supernatural element to the story, and she is the manifestation of that. You could say she’s the executor of fate or the executor of karma."

Like his other series, The Fall of the House of Usher will star a number of familiar faces as several actors who have worked with Flanagan are returning for his new series.
Flanagan's regular collaborators include Gugino, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Zach Gilford, Henry Thomas, Katie Parker, Samantha Sloyan, Annabeth Gish, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, and Igby Rigney - all of whom are returning for The Fall of the House of Usher.
Other cast members include Star Wars icon Mark Hamill, and Mary McDonnell, Willa Fitzgerald, Carl Lumbly, Crystal Balint, Kyliegh Curran, Matt Biedel,Daniel Jun, Paola Núñez, Sauriyan Sapkota, and Ruth Codd.
