The internet can't decide whether this is a kitchen sponge or a slice of bread

Try as we might to erase it from our confused memories, there’s no forgetting THAT dress, and how we all descended into a state of confusion and fury as we battled to decide whether it was black and blue or white and gold.

Now, it looks like the whole thing could happen again – after Twitter users were left debating whether a photo posted online showed a kitchen sponge, or instead a slice of toast with singed edges.

The photo was posted by Twitter user Craig Stone, who wrote: ‘Forget the gold or blue dress. I’ve just walked into my kitchen and found this. Is it a slice of bread or a sponge?’

And soon enough, Team Sponge quickly came crawling out of the woodwork.

And while #TeamBread were suspicious in their absence, a few others suggestions were thrown about too.

Of course, Craig knew the answer all along – but he wasn’t quite expecting the precision that one user replied with, and hailed their response as ‘incredibly accurate’.

So yeah, it’s a sponge – but there’s definitely a bread like appearance going on there. We wouldn’t blame you if you tried to chow down on this thing first thing in the morning. Let confusion reign.
