She also shared a dramatic teaser of the video – shot by critically acclaimed director Lisa Gunning – featuring a montage of love/heartbreak juxtaposed scenes, as Mollie questions: “Why do I keep coming back to you?”

“It’s a very personal song to me,” Mollie said of the new electropop track, co-written by her and Rob Persuad, and helmed by production duo The Blueprint (Ryan Ogren and Nick Bailey).

She added: “A lot of my writing inspiration has come from what I’ve been through over the last couple of years.

“In a band it’s sometimes difficult to write about personal experience because there’s a lot of members. My solo material is the kind of music that I love, stylistically this is me and I’m saying things that I want to say.”

The singer-songwriter previously hinted that the emotional single is about her split from model David Gandy, as she told The Sun: “The song is about a relationship that you know isn’t working but (you) keep going back to them because you love them.

“It is about a relationship I had that was in the public eye, but I’ve said everything I want to say about it in the lyrics to the song.”

Back to You also includes the lines: “And I wonder what you’re thinking right now, cause I’m going through hell. And I wonder why we’re doing this now, I keep asking myself.”
