ITV singing contest The Voice UK returns for its twelfth series this November and with it comes a new twist to the show’s familiar faceless format.

Filmed in Salford’s Media City UK, The Voice invites people from all backgrounds and singing abilities to try and wow a panel of superstar judges - known here as coaches.

However, there’s an all-important catch: each coach has their back turned to the performer with singers forced to seal the deal using nothing but their vocal chops.

Read on for everything you need to know about The Voice UK season 12, including coach details, where and when you can watch it and more.

Season 12 of The Voice UK starts on Saturday, 4 November at 8.25pm on ITV and ITVX.

This year’s edition will feature a new twist to the show’s usual competition process with musical groups invited to participate alongside individual singers.

Each will have to rely on their voice alone to wow the coaches and win a recording contract with Universal Records.

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, singer Olly Murs, music legend Sir Tom Jones and singer-songwriter Anne-Marie will all return as coaches for The Voice UK season 12 having guided singers through the competition during season 11. Emma Willis will also return as the show's host.

Season 12 will be the final outing with this coach line-up though, with Murs and Anne-Marie due to leave the show before it returns in 2024. News of Murs’ departure was unveiled earlier this year, with the star admitting that he was “gutted” upon hearing the news.

"I'm gutted,” the singer told The Sun. “I got the call last week to say I won't be back on the show, and it's a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn't really expect that to come...

"Genuinely, I accept their decision, and they'll find someone great, I'm sure. But am I going to miss it? Yeah. Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it'll be sore thinking that could have been me."

A short time later, news broke that Anne-Marie would also be leaving after season 12. An anonymous source close to the situation explained, saying: “Anne-Marie has loved being part of the show but producers want to give the series a refresh.

“ITV wants to ensure that the show pulls in teens, so they are always looking at who is hot in the music world."

Season 11 of The Voice came to a close in late October 2022 and saw singer Anthonia Edwards emerge as its champion.

Edwards was the first person to appear during the series’ blind auditions and went on to win the entire show, marking the first time this has happened in the history of The Voice UK.

It also marked the third overall win for coach Sir Tom Jones.
