The Voice UK Finalist Drops Out Of The Competition After Admitting To Drug Addiction

Fans of The Voice UK were left confused last night when two acts sensationally dropped out of the show mere hours before it went live, with it now being revealed that one of the acts is battling a cocaine addiction.

Beth Morris, who was in Paloma Faith’s category before quitting the show, has confirmed that she is an addict and had been using the class A drug during rehearsals - but not on BBC premises.

The official statement from the BBC explained: “Due to personal reasons which have only just come to light, The Voice producers, the BBC and Beth agreed that she should withdraw from The Voice.”

Beth added to The Mirror: “I am so sorry. I am an addict. I have let everybody down on the show.

“Two years ago I realised I had a problem with drugs. I was using them to cope with various issues in my life. I thought they would help me. But they were making the situation worse.

"I made the decision myself to seek treatment and checked into the Priory clinic. It gave me strength and helped me face the world. It changed me for the better.

“But addiction is tough. And I am sorry to say that I have relapsed on a few occasions since I left. When this has happened I have immediately sought help.

"I regularly attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings to help me get back on track. Being in the Priory gave me the tools to face up to my illness and it definitely helped me on the road to recovery.

"Being on The Voice has been the best experience of my life, the production team and contestants have all been incredible and I have loved performing on the show. Paloma has also been a great support.”

A source added to The Mirror: “Paloma is devastated. Paloma takes a huge personal interest in her acts, far more than the other coaches. She gets very close and this is really crushing.”

Before the show aired last night Paloma took to her Twitter account to tell fans that Beth has left the competition writing: “Very sad that @lunalepage Beth won’t be performing on @BBCTheVoiceUK from now on. What a talent I love you Beth!missing you already xxx”.

Ricky Wilson’s act, Chloe Castro, also left the show for “health reasons”, with Ricky tweeting: “It is with regret that I have to announce that Chloe won’t be performing on tonight’s show. We’ll all miss her and wish her the very best! X”.
