Theo Walcott clamped by Chris Sutton as Celtic exit strategy for Brendan Rodgers earns blunt response

Theo Walcott has floated a potential exit from Celtic for Brendan Rodgers - but Parkhead hero Chris Sutton was having none of it.

The Irishman has all-but secured the title after seeing off Rangers last Saturday to secure a six-point advantage at the summit with just two games remaining. The title will be guaranteed should Philippe Clement's men drop any points in their final two games of the campaign - while Celtic need a point from their final two fixtures against Kilmarnock and St Mirren to secure a third title in a row.

The victory on derby day caught the eye of former Everton and Arsenal star Walcott on BBC's Monday Night Club - as he floated the prospect of a return to the English Premier League for the ex Leicester and Liverpool boss. He asked Sutton: "On Brendan Rodgers, could you see him coming back to the Premier League? There is obviously a lot of chat about certain managers coming and going. Do you think we will see him again in the Premier League?"

Sutton appeared unimpressed answering: "I probably am better not to answer that at this stage. I think he has a three-year-deal and I don't think it's something at this stage...."

Walcott chimed in again: "The reason I say it is because of the way he manages and structures a team. I feel like when you are talking about certain teams that are looking for a certain manager who has experience of maintaining a squad and have that aura - there are a few clubs that would bite your hand off for him."

Sutton conceded: "Yeah, further down the line that might happen, but not right now."
