Thieving seagull caught on video nicking newspapers from shop

A cheeky seagull with a previous penchant for pastries is back to his thieving ways – but this time he's got an appetite for news. Last year the Late Stop shop in Holyhead Road in Bangor had a problem with a particular gull swooping in to swipe croissants.

The bird – affectionately dubbed Steven Seagull after action film star Steven Seagal – has now made a comeback. However it seems he's now less interested in grabbing a snack and instead wants to keep up to date with the news.

One of his raids was caught on camera as he nabbed a copy of this week's Cambrian News, snatching a copy from the newspaper stand. Caught on CCTV, the gull then makes a quick exit through the door.

Bipin Chawla, from Late Stop Bangor, said: "Breaking news. Last year we had a regular visiting seagull coming to our store and helping himself to croissants on a daily basis. We nicknamed him Steven Seagull," reports NorthWalesLive.

"We now find he has returned this summer very refreshed and now obviously bettering himself he is no longer wanting to eat junk food. But instead he has decided to improve his knowledge probably with the oncoming election." Sharing the video on Facebook he added: "Seeing is believing."
