Things to do across Belfast this weekend, May 17-19

The week after a Bank Holiday always feels that extra bit longer so time to celebrate getting through it!

With another dry weekend on the cards, it's finally starting to feel a bit like Spring in Belfast so there is no better time to enjoy a fun day out in the city.

There are a number of big events happening in Belfast (and slightly beyond) this weekend so there is no excuse to be bored or complain there is nothing to do.

The Woman in Black - Grand Opera House

Slightly outside of Belfast in Lisburn, the annual Balmoral Show is the biggest celebration of Northern Ireland's agricultural sector in the country.

With plenty of events for the whole family, the 155th Balmoral Show promises a good day out for all vendors, competitors and spectators involved.

Little Amal, a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child, arrives in Belfast on the evening of 16 May.

Little Amal has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. Her journeys are festivals of art and hope that draw attention to the huge numbers of children fleeing war, violence and persecution, each with their own story.

She will arrive along the River Lagan with a spectacle theatre performance at Custom House Square to start her journey around our city. She will visit the peace walls, share food at a Big Lunch picnic at City Hall, find sanctuary at a special music concert in St Anne’s Cathedral and explore our streets as she finds her place in Belfast.

Lord Mayor's Day - Belfast City Hall

The grounds of Belfast City Hall will come alive on Saturday 18 May with a host of free family fun for Councillor Ryan Murphy’s Lord Mayor’s Day.

Belfast’s First Citizen is inviting everyone to join him on the front lawns of City Hall between 12 noon and 5pm to celebrate our diverse and welcoming city and his year in office.

Visitors can also enjoy a packed line-up of activities including live circus, dance and music performances, Maypole dancing, workshops and more.

Peppa Pig Live - Waterfront Hall

May 18-19

Get the kids ready as Peppa Pig Live is back at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast on 18 & 19 May 2024 for a range of oink-tastic performances!

Join Peppa, along with her family and friends as they go to the zoo and also the beach for a special party- it’s going to be an exciting and fun packed day.

Prepare to sing and dance with colourful scarecrows, feed the penguins, build big sandcastles, and even swim in the sea! Packed full of songs, dance and muddy puddles. Peppa Pig’s Fun Day Out guarantees giggles and snorts for all Peppa fans, and is a perfect introduction to theatre.
