There was a 'carjacking' and a huge brawl involving 30 people on a quiet residential street in Bury this afternoon (Friday). Police were called to the corner of Brierly Street and Richmond Street, south of the town centre close to Holy Cross College, at around 12:15pm to reports of a large group fighting.

They immediately broke up and left the scene as officers arrived. It was then established that a 'carjacking' had taken place in the same area.

Two people reported 'being dragged out of their vehicle and assaulted, with an individual then driving off in their car', said Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The victims were taken to hospital with injuries described by the force as "minor."
