Awkward moment This Morning hosts apologise for playing sweary song
The track aired at the ITV show went to an ad break
What did you miss?
This Morning hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond had to apologise after a blunder saw a song containing the f-bomb played as they were on air.
The track Pass Out by Tinie Tempah was played on Friday's show (19 January), to mark the fact that Tempah was going to be a guest. However, the track includes the line “I'm a star and I bought my f****** cast out”, and it was that segment of the song that was played. Unfortunately, the expletive was not bleeped out. And viewers were quick to pick up on the gaffe, teasing “naughty naughty” on X.
What, how, and why?
This Morning was going to a break when the song was played. It was only on for a few seconds but the lyrics contained the swear word. When the ITV programme returned from its commercial break, O’Leary and Hammond were sat on the sofa looking serious.
O’Leary told viewers: “Welcome back to This Morning. Apologies for that swear word that you might have heard just before the break.” Moving on swiftly, Hammond continued: “Now it’s time for our phone in.”
What did viewers say?
Many viewers thought the mistake was hilarious, posting crying with laughter emojis on X as they remarked on it.“Ermm did I hear that lyric right??” asked one person. “I’m sure This Morning has just played Tinie Tempah saying f****** at 11.31am,” said another, as one fan teased: “Oh dear someone forget to mute that bit.”
Others wrote: “Oh dear This Morning dropping the F-Bomb… someone wasn’t doing their job properly,” quipped someone else, as another viewer agreed: “Someone’s in trouble.”
“Naughty This Morning, someone did not listen to that Tinie Tempah track very carefully!!!” said someone else. “They didn’t bleep out that Tinie Tempah song…” joked another fan.
"Haha played the swearing version," giggled someone else. Others suggested that broadcasting watchdog Ofcom would probably hear about it. "Ofcom going to go to overdrive now," predicted one.
