This Morning viewers react to Cat Deeley joining Rylan as host

The former SM:TV presenter brought back gameshow Wonkey Donkey as she made her debut on the daytime show.

Cat Deeley delighted viewers as she made her debut as a new This Morning.

The So You Think You Can Dance presenter joined Rylan to present the ITV daytime show and fans thought they made a great double act.

Deeley revealed it was not the first time she has hosted This Morning and also had a surprise for fans of vintage Saturday morning kids show SM:TV.

Deeley, 47, has joined the rota of part-time presenters hosting This Morning since Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left the programme.

Willoughby stepped down from the show in recent weeks after an alleged kidnap plot left her and her family terrified. Meanwhile Schofield resigned following his affair with a younger male colleague in recent months.

Viewers had a very positive reaction to seeing Deeley on the show, an many thought she and Rylan made a great partnership.

Among the comments shared on social media, one wrote: "Ah it's lovely to see Cat Deeley presenting with Rylan. Dream Team #ThisMorning"

Others added: "Was surprised when I dragged myself out of my Pit this morning and seen Not Rylan, But only B***dy Cat Deeley She Earned her stripes doing Live Telly too IMO, Great to see a Fresh Face I think she’ll be good at the Serious stuff"

"Could watch the amazing @catdeeley everyday. Well casted and many 90’s guys will be joining."

Deeley revealed her excitement at seeing her photograph on the wall at This Morning studios - although she joked she had noticed the frame had been hung at a slightly wonky angle as it had clearly been put up in a hurry, just before she arrived.

And she and Rylan were excited to notice that mugs with a 'C' and an 'R' had been added to the This Morning set.

What else happened on Cat Deeley's first day at This Morning?

Deeley revealed it was not actually her first time hosting This Morning.

She confessed: "I've done it once before."

She recalled guest hosting the show 20 years ago with the late Paul O'Grady when then hosts Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton were on holiday.

During the episode Deeley had helped celebrate the late Cilla Black's 60th birthday and O'Grady had presented the Blind Date star with an Old Person's Railcard.

A clip was plated and Deeley said: "They were two of the loveliest people to work with."

Former kids TV presenter brought back vintage game Wonkey Donkey from her says on SM:TV with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

After playing money-winning phone in segment Spin To Win, a Wonkey Donkey stand was wheeled in for the caller to play in order to win the ITV merchandise goody bag of 'schizzle'.

The rules of Wonkey Donkey are that a small curtain is opened to reveal an object. The contestant must name the object in two words that rhyme. For example a donkey with three legs in a "wonky donkey".

Deeley unveiled a gorilla with sunglasses and a a guitar - which was a "funky monkey".

She then said she would like to play the game every day for her first week on the show.

Fans agreed, writing on social media: "Love to see Wonkey Donkey back! Please keep it, it's hilarious! Also please keep these 2, they are great together! #thismorning"

Will we be back for more?

Deeley will be back for two more days. She is hosting the show again on Tuesday, 14th November with Rylan and on Wednesday, 15th November she will be joined by Craig Doyle.

This Morning airs on ITV from 10am to 12.30pm Mondays to Fridays.
