'This Morning', 'Corrie' and 'Emmerdale' cancelled following Queen's death

This Morning, Loose Women and Lorraine have been taken off ITV's schedule on Friday (9 September) following the death of the Queen.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air as planned either, according to reports.

The monarch passed away on Thursday (8 September) at the age of 96, with Buckingham Palace announcing that she "died peacefully at Balmoral".

There are now several changes to ITV's regular broadcasting schedule.

Good Morning Britain is airing from 6am to 9am, but after that an ITV news special will be broadcast all day instead of the usual daytime shows.

At 8.30pm a programme documenting Her Majesty's time on the throne - entitled Queen Elizabeth II – The Longest Reign - will air on the channel.

ITV will also not run advert breaks as a mark of respect to the late monarch.

The BBC's schedule has also changed.

The broadcaster will air blanket coverage of the Queen's death throughout the day, ending at 6.30pm.

The Queen's death was announced on Thursday evening and triggered an outpouring of grief across the country.

Countless celebrities paid tribute, including Stephen Fry and Dame Helen Mirren.

QI star Fry said on Twitter that he was "sobbing" at the news while Dame Helen - who played the Queen on the big screen and on the stage - said she was “proud to be an Elizabethan”.

"We mourn a woman, who, with or without the crown, was the epitome of nobility," she wrote on Instagram.

Piers Morgan said the late royal was "the greatest Monarch in history, and the greatest of Britons".
