Steven Knight is swapping Peaky Blinders for a new music drama set in Birmingham
Steven Knight is returning to Birmingham for the BBC, but not for a new chapter in the Peaky Blinders franchise.
His new show This Town will tackle a very different kind of story to Knight's hit crime drama, but it is still one that will likely delight fans of his work. Here is everything you need to know about the six-part TV series.
When is This Town on TV?
For those keen to binge watch This Town, six episodes are to stream in full on BBC iPlayer now.
The first two episodes aired on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday 31 March and Monday 1 April, respectively. The remaining episodes will air weekly on Sunday nights at 9pm.
What is This Town about?
This Town is set in 1981, where social tension and civil unrest is reaching its peak in Birmingham. With this as its backdrop, the series focuses in on a group of young people who decide to form a band.
Fighting to choose their own path in life, the characters chase their independence in a world determined to keep them down through music. The characters are keen to get their second chance with music and are drawn into an iconic scene as a result, with the series examining how creative genius can be captured in a volatile time.

It certainly is a far cry from Peaky Blinders, showing Knight's skills at tackling different genres in interesting ways. As well as create the show he also wrote it, with Paul Whittingham stepping in to direct.
Who stars in This Town?
This Town is being led by a group of rising stars including Levi Brown, Jordan Bolger, Ben Rose and Eve Austin who take on the roles of Dante Williams, Gregory Williams, Bardon Quinn, and Jeannie Keefe, respectively.
They will be joined alongside exciting cast members including Michelle Dockery, Nicholas Pinnock, David Dawson. Other cast members include Freya Parks, Shyvonne Ahmmad, Geraldine James, Peter McDonald, John Heffernan, and Stefan Asante-Boateng.
The show is completed by cast members Séainín Brennan, George Somner and Brendan Gibson.
