Three children and two women given 'trauma care' then rushed to hospital after crash

Three children and two women were given 'trauma care' before being rushed to hospital after a crash in south Manchester.

The two-car smash happened at the junction of Westcroft Road and Parrs Wood Road, near Fog Lane Park, just after 11pm last night (Thursday). Police, paramedics and firefighters raced to the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said trauma care was given to three children and two women by firefighters and paramedics. All five were then taken to hospital.

The extent of their injuries has not yet been confirmed. Firefighters 'made the scene safe' before handing over to police officers.

A stretch of the road near Fog Lane Park, on the border of Burnage and Didsbury, was taped off after the incident. Pictures show a number of emergency services vehicles on the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Just after 11pm on Thursday 11 April, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Westcroft Road, Manchester. Two fire engines from Withington and Whitehill stations, as well as the technical response unit from Ashton, were quickly mobilised to the incident, which involved two cars.

"Firefighters and paramedics administered trauma care to three children and two women at the scene. All five were then taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS)

"Firefighters helped make the area safe before handing the scene over to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). GMFRS crews were in attendance for about an hour and a half."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for information.
