Three people including a flight attendant on a United Airlines flight were taken to hospital upon landing in Chicago after a clash involving a “disruptive customer”.

Footage of the incident on Sunday’s flight from San Francisco to Chicago shows a woman holding a small child walking down the aisle screaming: “Where is it?”

The video shows one flight attendant telling the woman: “Ma’am, we are landing,” before a more urgent voice says: “Sarah, step back. Step back. Sarah, step back.”

It is not known why the altercation broke out on the flight.

The Independent has reached out to United Airlines for more details.

The Chicago police department confirmed that an incident of disturbance occurred on the flight at around 6am and said the department as well as the FBI is investigating.

Chicago police said that “three occupants of the plane were transported to Resurrection Hospital for observation”.

United Airlines said there were no serious injuries following the incident and said the “disruptive” passenger was removed by law enforcement after landing at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

“A disruptive customer on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago was removed by law enforcement upon landing on Sunday, and one member of the flight attendant crew was taken to a hospital for evaluation,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“We’re grateful to our crew for handling this difficult situation with professionalism and for putting the safety of our team and our customers first.”
