Three men arrested over an attack at Parsons Green Tube station have been released.

The development means six out of seven people arrested as part of the investigation into the attempted bombing have now been released without further action.

Ahmed Hassan, an 18-year-old Iraqi refugee, has been charged with attempted murder and explosives offences over the attack, which injured 30 people.

Scotland Yard said a 25-year-old man who was arrested in Newport, South Wales, on Tuesday 19 September and a 30-year-old man, also arrested in Newport on Wednesday September 20, were released on Tuesday afternoon.

A 20-year old man arrested in Cardiff on Monday was also released.

The Metropolitan Police said it was continuing to search one address in Cardiff, while a search in Surrey has bee completed.

Mr Hassan appeared in court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 13 October.

He allegedly bought parts to make the improvised explosive device on Amazon and left the train at Putney Bridge before the device partially detonated at the next station.

Witnesses described seeing a "fireball" fly down the Tube carriage, which was packed with commuters and schoolchildren.

A woman with serious burns was among the injured.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick told LBC on Friday it was a “very, very dangerous bomb. It partially detonated. It had a large quantity of explosive and it was packed with shrapnel.

“It could have been so much worse.”

Mr Hassan, of Cavendish Road, Sunbury, Surrey, was arrested at the port of Dover in Kent at 7.50am on Saturday 16 September by counter-terrorism officers.

The teenager, whose parents are believed to have been killed in Iraq, was in the foster care of Penelope and Ronald Jones, who previously received MBEs for services to children and families.
