How to get tickets to Torvill and Dean's last UK tour
The stars will hit the road on tour in April next year
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have announced they are heading out on one last UK tour before hanging up their skates.
The ice-skaters – who won gold at the 1984 Olympics with their Bolero routine – marked the 40th anniversary of their win by announcing they will retire in 2025. But the Dancing On Ice judges will hit the road together one last time first.
A message on their Instagram urged fans: “Seize your chance to see the world’s most famous ice dancing duo, Torvill & Dean perform together on ice, before they retire from skating for good!”
It said the tour would be “a tribute to their half-century legacy” and that it would “give audiences a unique opportunity to experience and celebrate their iconic partnership for one last time in an arena spectacular”.
Torvill and Dean's tour
The pair have said the time feels right to retire and have promised the tour would be a “celebration”.
Dean said on Good Morning Britain: "Gosh, well, 40 years ago is a long time. In actual fact, next year in 2025, we have been skating together for 50 years and we felt that was a really nice round number to say ‘we have had a wonderful time but it’s time to retire a little bit and hang up the skates’. No more touring except for the last tour we are hoping to do next year."
Torvill agreed: "We feel that it will be the last tour but it will be a celebration of everything that we have been through since 1984, winning the Olympics, which opened up the door to lots of other things in the future."
