TikToker has the perfect response to comedian’s scathing Gen Z routine: ‘Whose fault is it they don’t know?’

It’s a common complaint that Gen Z doesn’t know how to do certain things that older adults might consider basic life tasks. But after one comedian complained about Gen Z’s lack of adulting skills, a real-life Gen Zer responded in the most Gen Z way possible: through TikTok.

Comedy TikTok account JD Roninstone (@jd.roninstone) posted a TikTok featuring a comedian listing off a litany of things Gen Z can’t do — like write a check, address an envelope, read cursive or interpret a paper map.

“All I’m saying is that if Gen Z takes over the world, it’s going to be pretty easy to get it back,” the comedian says into the mic as the crowd in front of her laughs.

Roninstone posted a response in the original TikTok, but Taylor (@heyitatay) also created a duet with her own comeback to the comedian’s routine.

Without even directly addressing the comedian or her insults, Taylor crafted a simple comeback that succinctly summed up why Boomers may want to tread carefully before insulting the younger generation beneath them.

After clipping the comedian’s routine to show the part where she complains that Gen Z doesn’t know how to write a check, Taylor cut to her chatting on the phone with an imaginary phone partner as she describes how to save a PDF.

The end of the clip even holds a special surprise as Taylor acts out discovering that her imaginary Boomer co-worker doesn’t even have their computer on.

“Elder Gen Z here, 24, the number of co-workers I have to help with their laptops every day is crazy,” said @qd_555. “I’m a SOCIAL WORKER.”

Many of the commenters pointed out what they say as irony in that older generations are traditionally responsible for teaching younger generations, so if Gen Z is lacking in any skills, shouldn’t that technically be the older generations’ fault?

“But whose fault is it they don’t know? THE ADULTS,” said @kendallnotken.

“They make fun of gen z for not knowing…like then you didn’t do you job which is TO TEACH THEM HOW,” commented @teryg.

Other commenters defended Gen Z and even millennials, noting that even if there were skills that they didn’t know how to do, thanks to their tech-savvy ways, they felt confident they could look up any task and learn how to do it pretty quickly.

“If I ever have to write a check or address an envelope at least I know how to Google to learn it,” retorted @sariahcalivo.
