Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo casts Alan Arkin

From Digital Spy

We never thought we'd see the words 'Tim Burton' and 'Dumbo' together, but the iconic director's live-action remake of the Disney classic is well under way and adding to its cast as we speak.

And the latest star to sign on – alongside the likes of Michael Keaton, Eva Green, Danny DeVito(!) and Colin Farrell – is none other than the Oscar-winning Alan Arkin.

This isn't the first time Arkin has worked with Tim Burton – the actor, who's also starred in Little Miss Sunshine and Argo – worked with Tim on Edward Scissorhands.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alan will play a Wall Street fat cat called J Griffin Remington, who we imagine will be trying to get his greasy mitts all over Colin Farrell's circus.

Although production has already kicked off, Dumbo details are few and far between – but if its official synopsis is anything to go by, we're more excited than an elephant in a peanut factory.

The official synopsis reads: "Disney's new live-action feature film Dumbo introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war.

"Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughing stock in an already struggling circus.

"But when Holt's children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur VA Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star."

Excited? You've got a while to wait, we're afraid. The Dumbo reboot is currently scheduled to be released on March 29, 2019.
