Timelapse Shows Smoke From Ute Park Fire Near Eagle Nest Lake

Thunderstorms and flash flooding forecasted for the Ute Park, New Mexico, area on June 3 were expected to ease wildfire activity, but only for the short term, according to Inciweb.

By Sunday morning the fire had grown to more than 31,000 acres. Continued evacuations were underway in the Cimarron and Ute Park neighborhoods.

Critical fire conditions were expected to return following the storm, which is forecast to bring up to one inch of rain and winds of up to 30 miles-per-hour. Credit: JR Logan via Storyful
