The tiny Essex village filming location for popular TV show that hardly anyone knows how to pronounce

Up close to the Suffolk border, there are a number of places that begin with the start of the name of this village. But considering it was the filming location for a popular TV show, may have found it one of the hardest place names to pronounce.

Belchamp Walter is the name of the village but there is also Belchamp St Paul and Belchamp Otten. Thankfully they are all pronounced similarly. It's with a hard 'ch' like in 'cherry' not a soft 'ch' like in 'champagne'.

So it's pronounced Bell-champ Wall-ter. Belchamp Walter is located near Belchamp St Paul and Belchamp Otten. The village is in the district of Braintree and in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree. The parish is part of the Stour Valley South parish cluster and has a tiny population of 198, according to the 2011 census.

Belchamp Hall is a country house in the village that stands near the church and was the filming location for the fictional "Felsham Hall" in the "Lovejoy" television series.

Lovejoy is a British television comedy-drama mystery series, based on the novels by John Grant under the pen name Jonathan Gash. The show, which ran to 71 episodes over six series, was originally broadcast on BBC1 between 10 January 1986 and 4 December 1994, although there was a five-year gap between the first and second series. It was adapted for television by Ian La Frenais.

The series concerns the adventures of the eponymous Lovejoy, a roguish antiques dealer based in East Anglia filmed around Long Melford. Within the trade, he has a reputation as a "divvy", a person with almost unnatural powers of recognising exceptional items as well as distinguishing genuine antiques from fakes or forgeries.
