Tiny food hut already has queues after being open only a week

A new food hut in Liverpool city centre is already creating a buzz, despite only being open for a week.

Shake and Juice sells authentic Korean corn dogs out of a tiny hut on Williamson Street, off Church Street, opposite sports superstore Decathlon. The first stall opened on the Albert Dock in 2023 and after gaining success, the owners decided to open a second in the city centre.

I decided to head down to see what was on offer, after spotting the queues on a walk after work. It's open from 12pm until 6pm, and when I got there just after 5pm, there was already big queue of customers waiting for their food.

On the menu is a variety of Korean corn dogs, or K-Dogs, but I opted for the K-mozzarella, which costs £3.99, and is a cheese version of the corn dog. Another popular one was the Classic K-Dog, and both foods feature a battered outer crust with sauce.

What surprised me was that all of the corn dogs have sugar on their outer coating, and the vendor explained that this is quite common in Korea and gives it the authentic style. When I joined the queue around a dozen people were in front of me and it took around five minutes to be served and a further 10 minutes to get my food.

Two friends who got their food as I was waiting were marvelling at the size of the corn dog, as one said: "Look at the size of this."

I have to agree with them, as when I got my corn dog (opting for a sriracha sauce on top) I was also stunned at how big it was. £3.99 is well worth the money for what you get. You can see what I thought by watching the video above or heading to our TikTok page.
