Tiny Octopus Deals With Annoying Neighbors in Port Phillip Bay

A juvenile pale octopus in Australia’s Port Phillip Bay appeared to have buyer’s remorse when it attempted to move the shell it called home away from a flurry of annoying underwater neighbors.

Footage by Victoria-based marine biologist Sheree Marris shows the young octopus trying and failing to pick up the shell to relocate elsewhere after swarms of mysid shrimp decided to take an energetic swim all around it.

The octopus eventually admits defeat, and crawls into the shell to hide until the madness concludes. Credit: Sheree Marris via Storyful
