Tippi Hedren Celebrates 94th Birthday with Her Family: 'The Perfect Way to Celebrate' (Exclusive)
The Hollywood legend reveals to PEOPLE the low-key, "perfect" way she's celebrating her 94th birthday on Friday
Happy birthday, Tippi Hedren!
The retired actress turns 94 years old on Friday, and is planning to celebrate her new age milestone with her family by her side.
"It may not be exciting to the rest of the world, but as a mother and grandmother, it's the perfect way to celebrate," Hedren tells PEOPLE exclusively.
The Alfred Hitchcock muse has had an incredibly interesting life, and her Hollywood legacy is strong. She's mother to Melanie Griffith and grandmother to Griffith's four children: sons Jesse Johnson and Alexander Bauer, as well as daughters Dakota Johnson and Stella Banderas.

Melanie, 66, is the daughter of Hedren and her first husband, Peter Griffith, though they split up when Melanie was young.
Throughout the years, Griffith and The Birds actress have maintained a close relationship, even sharing the screen on occasion and attending red carpet events together.
When Melanie was awarded the timeless beauty award at the 2nd Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards in Los Angeles in 2016, the Working Girl actress dedicated the honor to her mother.
"Really, I would like to say that this should be for my mom, who’s right there,” Melanie told the audience. “She is the timeless beauty. So mom, I’m going to take this on your behalf. I love you.”
She has also paid tribute to Hedren on social media over the years on special occasions, writing for her 92nd birthday in 2022, "Happy Birthday Mom!! You are so beautiful, tenacious, gracious, elegant and YOU ARE 92!! Happy happy birthday. ... I love you very much! 💙♥️💛🌈."

In January 2003, Melanie was on hand to celebrate her mom’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as were Dakota, now 34, and Stella, now 27.
Hedren and Melanie are well-known for their tremendous acting talent, and they aren’t the only members of the family who are stars. Melanie's daughter Dakota also has a thriving acting career of her own, including the upcoming film Madame Web, out Feb. 14.
In November 2016, the trio were interviewed together by Vanity Fair in honor of Hedren’s memoir Tippi. Melanie told the magazine, “The three generations just made me think about Mom, born in 1930, and me, in the ’50s, and Dakota, in the ’80s. The progression of life is really beautiful.”
In 2017, Melanie and Hedren were joined by Dakota and the latter's father, Don Johnson, for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The wide-ranging conversation covered plenty of topics, including Hedren’s experience with director Hitchcock, whom she has accused of assault.
Melanie told the outlet that her mother’s experience inspired her, explaining, “She became an example of what to never let happen in my life. Hopefully, I've passed that on to Dakota — to be strong in your work and in yourself.”
