The seat straddles the Devon- Somerset border, includes the titular towns along with Bishop's Lydeard, Dulverton, Watchet , Williton and much of the Exmoor National Park .

The constituency combines the western, more rural end of the current Bridgwater and West Somerset seat – including Minehead, Watchet and Williton – together with most of the Exmoor National Park and the entirety of the Quantock Hills.

Mr Liddell Grainger was Conservative MP for Bridgwater and West Somerset from 2010. Previously Tiverton was covered by the Tiverton and Honiton constituency, which has now become the Honiton and Sidmouth constituency.
