‘Loving’ father dies on holiday in Magaluf after ‘fight with nightclub bouncers'

A British father on holiday in Majorca died in hospital five days after he was allegedly “knelt on” by a bouncer during a reported altercation in a nightclub.

It is believed Tobias White-Sansom, 35, was kept in an induced coma for several days after being taken to hospital following the incident on 26 July.

Homicide detectives from Guardia Civil claim they attended the scene following reports of an assault on a bouncer and that a suspect had to be restrained before being hospitalised.

Mr White-Sansom is the brother of Maximillian White, a Nottinghamshire entrepreneur who has made his wealth from medicinal cannabis and owns a property on the holiday island.

White claims the alleged altercation started after his brother returned to a VIP area of the Boomerang club to retrieve his T-shirt, when he was told that it had been put away.

Mr White-Sansom was “grabbed from behind” by a bouncer and attacked after going to the bar to get a drink with his girlfriend, his brother claimed.

He told The Mirror: “This ordeal went on for about 12 minutes, according to what the lawyers told me from getting witness statements.”

People who witnessed the incident reportedly screamed: “You're going to kill him”, as Mr White-Sansom “pleaded for his life”.

At this point, it is believed Mr White-Sansom went into cardiac arrest and was taken to hospital, where he later died.

A Guardia Civil spokesman said: “Officers responded to an incident at a nightclub in Magaluf in the early hours of last Tuesday morning where a client had allegedly head-butted a bouncer after he asked him to put his top on.

“That client, a well-built British man, was still acting very aggressively when officers arrived and he had to be restrained using appropriate force by four or five responders for his own safety and that of others around him.”

Mr White-Sansom’s cousin Ricardo Capone said the news had left the family “devastated" and the family are now fighting to bring Mr White-Sansom’s body back home.

In a letter to Nottinghamshire Live, the family said: "Tobias (Toby) White-Sansom is a loving father to two young girls, aged one and four. He is a kind-hearted, hardworking dad with a large family and countless friends.

"We are fighting with our embassy to have Toby’s body returned to the UK for further examination and the involvement of a British law firm to oversee this case.”

In a statement, the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Mallorca and are in contact with the local authorities.”
