A Toby Carvery branch is back open for business this morning - after Sunday dinner diners had their bookings cancelled. Toby Carvery Festival Park - which is also known as China Gardens - had to send customers home yesterday following a power failure.

One StokeonTrentLive reader said: "People are turning up with reservations and being turned away."

It is not yet known how many other businesses and homes were affected by the power issue.

In a social media post, the venue warned yesterday: "Unfortunately, we are closed at present due to a complete power failure. As soon as we have any updates we will let you know via our socials. Apologies to any bookings we have had to cancel. Thank you for your patience."

Toby Carvery Festival Park underwent a stunning refurbishment earlier this year. The venue managed to partially reopen last night and is due to be back to 'normal operation' from this morning.

The venue added last night: "We are now back open for drinks only this evening. Normal operation from tomorrow morning from 8am."
