He didn't make if off the bench for Rangers - but the Celtic fans haven't let Todd Cantwell off after his bold title prediction at the start of the season.

The table-topping Hoops' moved within touching distance of the title as they league title as they moved six points clear at the summit with just two games remaining. It means Celtic need just a point from their final two games to mathematically secure the title - but with Brendan Rodgers' men boasting a superior goal difference over the Light Blues the Scottish Premiership crown looks to be staying in Glasgow's east end.

Cantwell was left on the bench by Philippe Clement for the crucial derby day showdown - with Tom Lawrence being preferred in the playmaker role. The Rangers boss explained after the game that the 26-year-old was fit for the clash - but didn't feel it was right to introduce him to the game following John Lundstram's red card.

But despite his absence on the day, the Hoops' diehards have been quick to remind Cantwell of his subtle pre-season prediction. Before a ball was kicked in the playmaker took to social media as he shared a snap of himself and Michael Beale to Instagram - declaring he would "fight for everything” with a subtle nod to Rangers pursuit of title 56. Observant supporters spotted the tiny No.56 on the post – a reference to the much-coveted next league title for the club.

One fan shared a screengrab of the Instagram story with the comment "3 in a row" - in reference to Celtic's run of title victories should the seal this season's trophy - and a shushing emoji. Another sharing the snap quizzed: "How’d that work out for you?"
