Hull FC are negotiating a shock transfer for former crowd favourite Tom Briscoe. The now-34-year-old, who has spent the last eighteen months at Leigh Leopards, is closing in on a return to the club where he made his debut as a teenager back in 2008, with the Black and Whites working on a swap deal that will see a current player head the other way.

That player is understood to be Darnell McIntosh, with the 26-year-old winger, who signed a three-year deal ahead of 2022, out of contract at the end of the season. Hull Live understands all parties are now keen to get the deal done, with Briscoe and McIntosh moving in opposite directions with immediate effect.

Briscoe has been out with a calf injury but is in the final stages of his rehab and could make his second debut for the club against Leeds Rhinos this weekend. He played 147 times for Hull from 2008 to 2013, scoring 90 tries. He also played for England during his time at the club before moving to the Rhinos ahead of the 2014 season.

He won two Challenge Cup and Super League titles at Leeds, scoring a staggering five tries in the 2015 cup final against Hull KR. He also won the cup again with Leigh last season, once again scoring against Rovers in the final. To date, he has scored over 200 career tries and is closing in on 400 appearances.

As well as Briscoe, Hull are active on three fronts as they look to strengthen their squad. Richie Myler, who played with Briscoe at Leeds, is open to further loan deals, not to mention domestic or overseas acquisitions, with two quota spots to work with. It's believed more deals could get over the line this week, with enquiries made across the Super League competition.
