Tom Daley and Noah Williams win another World Cup silver
At the Diving World Cup in Xi’an, China, Plymouth’s Tom Daley and Noah Williams won silver in the men’s synchronised 10m event. The pair from Great Britain finished behind Chinese competitors Hao Yang and Junjie Lian with 440.37 points.
Daley and Williams took home silver at the World Championships in February and gold in the same event at the Berlin World Cup in March. Daley, the Olympic champion, also won silver in the mixed team event consisting of 3 and 10 metres.
Daley competed for Great Britain with Daniel Goodfellow, Grace Reid, and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix. Their team got 456.75 points, placing them third, ahead of Australia and behind China.
It continues the successful World Cup season which Daley and Williams have had. The 29-year-old is hoping to compete in the Olympic Games in Paris later this year and enjoyed great success at the World Championships at the turn of the year.
He then followed that up with a silver medal in the mixed team event at the Diving World Cup in Montreal and a bronze in the 10m men’s synchro.. Them, Daley helped the Great Britain mixed team win the first gold medal of the Berlin World Cup event in Germany. Daley, Jack Laugher, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Mew Jensen finished top with 461.15 points. Germany were second with 430.75 points and Italy in third spot on 419.60.
