Tommy Dorfman Is Married! The “Love, Victor” Actress Eloped with Partner Elise in 2023: 'It Was Perfect'

The '13 Reasons Why' alum secretly tied the knot with her girlfriend Elise after nearly three years of dating

Tommy Dorfman has tied the knot!

On Thursday, May 2, the Love, Victor actress revealed on Instagram and in Vogue that she secretly eloped with her girlfriend of nearly three years, Elise, at the end of 2023.

"I married my best friend and didn’t tell anyone except @hunterabrams who came and photographed us towards the end of last year. we bought our own dresses @doverstreetmarketnewyork where i used to work before acting, and it was perfect. also thank you @liamnhess and @guiducci ♡" she wrote on Instagram.

In an essay for Vogue, Dorfman shared that her wife Elise — who doesn't follow her on Instagram — is a private person, whom she met on the dating website Hinge in 2021. She also revealed that it didn't take long for them to get engaged after they began dating.

"We got engaged two months into dating," she wrote. "To our credit, we waited a full 12 months before moving in together, so you can’t say we U-Hauled (though one might argue taking in a Great Dane puppy at our six-month mark was a smidge irresponsible). That’s the thing about falling in love though; your responsibility barometer isn’t always where it should be. Love, for us, required that nauseating combination of naiveté, delusion and fate."

Dorfman went on to share that Elise never wanted a big wedding. In fact, the pair bought both of their "Folklore-coded" dresses off the rack during a shopping trip to Dover Street Market.

"She fell in love with a Cecile Bahnsen set, and I, a Simone Rocha number. Off the rack, no tailoring, just right," the actress said.

The I Wish You All the Best star then detailed how she and Elise eloped in the fall of 2023. Dorfman wrote that she and her future wife were "sitting perched above the shoreline in Malibu, Elise and I joked about same-day marriages" when the joking turned serious. After a quick Google search, they discovered California offered same-day wedding services and confidential marriage records, leading to them tying the knot before heading to a concert later in the evening.

In August 2022, Dorfman announced that she was engaged to “the person I'm going to spend the rest of my life" with during an episode of Rachel Bilson's Broad Ideas podcast. In the conversation, the 13 Reasons Why alum didn't reveal the identity of her partner, saying only that she's "just a gay girl."

Dorfman also disclosed that her fiancée is an Aries before speaking of her best characteristics. "I fell in love with someone who doesn't fetishize me," Dorfman said of the relationship with her fiancée and of the pressure of being a trans woman in the dating world.

At the time, the actress also said Elise helps give her estrogen shots — and even consults Dorfman on medication administration from a distance.

"My fiancée, she knew how, so she did it for me the first time," Dorfman shared. "Then she was out of town and we FaceTimed and she walked me through it."

The news of Dorfman's new relationship came a year after her 2021 split from Peter Zurkuhlen. The pair had been married since 2016, and Zurkuhlen filed for divorce from Dorfman in early 2022, six months after she announced her transition in a July 2021 conversation with Time.

Dorfman later revealed that the pair were better off as friends — and told Bilson after the split, she decided to date women.

"I knew I was interested in women in a way that I hadn't really been aware of since high school," she continued. "I had this unresolved, unexplored thing. I was like, 'This is the year that I'm gonna go on some dates with girls and feel that out again, and not feel ashamed about it.'"

Shortly after the Time profile was published, Zurkuhlen publicly expressed support for Dorfman on Instagram, where he re-posted a photo from Dorfman's Time photoshoot.

Zurkuhlen captioned the image, "So much love. You are gorgeous and you are fully you," per a screenshot obtained by Just Jared.
