Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Friday, July 5.

Cardiff hopeful of transfer breakthrough

Cardiff City are hoping to confirm their first summer transfers some time next week, with the club understood to be making progress on as many as six signings.

City have already made four acquisitions for their under-21s side this week, but are hoping to strengthen Erol Bulut's first team squad over the coming weeks.

Two strikers, a winger, a midfielder, and two defenders are currently on the agenda.

It's hoped there could be some movement in the coming days.

Man United chase Philogene

Manchester United are among a host of Premier League sides reportedly interested in former Cardiff City winger Jaden Philogene.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham and Crystal Palace are also keeping a close eye on his situation, along with Ipswich Town and Everton.

Spanish giants Barcelona are already believed to have made a loan offer for the forward, with an option to buy included in the deal, although it's claimed his preference is to join a club in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest properties in the Championship following his strong run of form for Hull City, where he scored 12 goals in 32 appearances last term.

He spent the 22/23 season on loan with the Bluebirds, where he scored four goals in 37 league games.

Youngster hails move from Swans

Ewan Griffiths says he's delighted to have crossed over the south Wales divide to join Cardiff City this summer.

The 18-year-old left Swansea City at the end of last season following his release, and is one of four youngsters to have signed with the Bluebirds this week.

Speaking about the move, he said: "My family are all Cardiff City fans, so it’s a great honour for me to be here. Being on trial here at the end of last season, I felt that everything about the Club was a perfect fit for me.

“It was a great experience and I felt really settled. The coaches were great with me so signing here is a no-brainer.”

Siopis back in training

Greek star Manolis Siopis is back training with his team-mates ahead of the new season.

The midfielder was one of three players to return this week, having been in action for Greece earlier in the summer, and underwent his first training session of the summer on Friday.

It means Ethan Horvath, whose USA side were knocked out of the Copa America earlier this week after the losses to Panama and Uruguay, is the only player left to link up with the squad.

Ryotaro Tsunoda, meanwhile, is still working his way back to full fitness having gone under the knife for a recent hamstring injury.
