The top 100 baby names for girls and boys in Wales
The top baby names for the last year in Wales have been revealed. Noah, Theo and Oliver top the list for boys' names, while the Welsh name Osian is just outside the top ten in 11th place.
There were a total of 264 boys with the name Noah in the 2022 figures released by the Office for National Statistics. There were 196 boys named Theo and 188 named Oliver.
Olivia, Isla and Amelia top the list of girls' names. Of all the girls born in Wales in 2022, 145 were named Olivia, 137 Isla and 129 Amelia. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter

The top 10 list of boys' names in Wales also includes Arthur, Luca, Oscar, George, Archie, Freddie and Leo. Welsh names that appear in the top 100 include Elis (21), Harri (23), Jac (29), Dylan (35), Tomos (48) and Evan (54). Cai, Idris and Rhys are tied on 85, with 37 babies being given the names.
On the girls' list, the top 10 includes Lily, Elsie, Ava, Ivy, Millie, Freya and Ella. Welsh names that figure in the top 100 are Mali (15), Seren (37), Delilah (47), Imogen (55) Alys and Ffion (57), Cadi (62) and Nansi (68). Megan, Eleri and Elin all tie in 81st with 29 babies given those names.
In England and Wales, Noah and Olivia are still the most popular names for newborn babies. There were a total of 3,289 baby girls given the name Olivia in 2022, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics. That makes it the most popular name for newborn girls for the seventh year running. Amelia was the next most popular name, with 2,884 newborns. That’s followed by Isla with 2,613, Ava with 2,293, and Lily with 2,281.
