Top Gear star Paddy McGuinness is set to replace Rylan Clark on his BBC Radio 2 show.

The presenter will take over the 3pm to 6pm slot for three weeks from February 10, while Rylan is away filming during an extended break (via Metro).

As well as chart-topping music and celebrity guests, McGuinness's four shows will also feature the popular Couch Potatoes quiz — which sees listeners go head-to-head to test their entertainment knowledge.

"I'm really excited to be taking over the reins of Rylan's show and keeping his seat warm for four weeks," said McGuinness.

"I can't wait to bring the fun, and an endless supply of dad jokes, to Radio 2 every Saturday."

This isn't McGuinness's first foray into radio. The former Take Me Out host stepped in to host a quiz on Vernon Kay's mid-morning show last year, while he ran his epic ultra-marathon for Children in Need.

Rylan announced the news of his replacement earlier this week: "I'm going to be off for a few weeks filming something very special — so the wonderful Paddy McGuinness is going to be keeping my lovely Radio 2 listeners entertained while I'm away. Over to you Paddy."

Helen Thomas, Head of BBC Radio 2, added: "Paddy did a great job presenting Ten To The Top for Vernon Kay whilst he took on his Ultra Ultramarathon Challenge for BBC Children in Need last year.

"He was warmly welcomed by the listeners so it's wonderful to welcome him back to Radio 2 to sit in for Rylan on Saturday afternoons for four weeks."

Ahead of his radio stint, the presenter recently responded to the news that Top Gear will not return "for the foreseeable future". The BBC announced in November 2023 that it had "decided to rest" the hit motoring show.

"We were always going to be bellends but we were your bellends," McGuinness said on Instagram. "Thanks for all the love over the years folks, it was very much appreciated."

Top Gear episodes can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
