As temperatures soar this week, London families are keen to find new places to keep cool and have fun. Thankfully, the city has plenty of free spots where you can hang out and have a splash. The Olympic Park Splash Fountain in Stratford is a favourite with locals with its free entry and top-notch Google reviews.

Boasting a 4.7-star rating, this watery wonderland features 195 individually-controlled jets, providing endless entertainment right outside the iconic Olympic Stadium. The fountains are open daily throughout the summer from 10am to 5pm, except for special event adjustments including West Ham match days.

Visitors have been singing the praises of Stratford's splash park, with glowing testimonials recommending it as an ideal spot for a family picnic and water play. One particularly enthusiastic review advised: "Great free water splash area, open from 10am to 4pm, kids love it. Bring a picnic and let them go crazy. No changing facilities so bring a big towel to cover up."

Another person added: "Great area for kids to splash about. The fountain is actually just a snake shape in the ground with water squirts firing upwards about 1m on times sequence. Kids will like trying to run through it without getting caught in a full squirt and soaked. Benches around the side to sit."

The Olympic Park fountains are located at The South Plaza, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London, E20 2ST. For those looking to cool off elsewhere in London, other splash fountains include:

  • West London: Kensington Memorial Park, St Mark's Rd

  • North London: Priory Park, Haringey

  • South London: Tamworth Recreation Ground, Mitcham

  • Central London: Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, Hyde Park
