Tornado Causes Damage in Kalamazoo Area

An EF-2 tornado ripped through Portage, Michigan – in the Kalamazoo metro area – on Tuesday, May 7, causing damage to trees and homes.

Footage filmed by X user @Drapes426 shows the tornado.

Residents across Portage were urged to take cover.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said multiple trees and wires were down throughout the township.

“Avoid the areas. You will not get through. Stay clear and let first responders provide assistance,” it said.

Around a dozen people were reported injured at a mobile home community outside Kalamazoo, and local media also reported damage to a FedEx building in Portage. Credit: @Drapes426 via Storyful
