Toronto Plunges Into Deep Freeze

An extreme cold weather alert for Toronto and much of Ontario warned of -30 C (-22 F) wind chills on Friday, February 14, and an increased risk for frostbite and hypothermia.

The Medical Officer of Health from Toronto issued an extreme cold weather alert, as is customary after Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15 C or colder, the alert said.

The temperature in Toronto was -16 C (4 F) at 11 am on Friday, according to Environment Canada.
